    Tremendous and sustained growth has spurred the creation of a new position within the Accounting/Finance/Purchasing Team.The Assistant Controller works closely with the Vice President of Finance and entire accounting team on tasks within the accounting department, and cost-based projects in support of operations. This position is a key contributor in the preparation of internal financial reporting and analysis while remaining involved in day-to-day accounting functions within the Company. 


    Responsibilities & Required Competencies:

    ·       Assist the VP of Finance in the direction of the Company’s accounting function.

    ·       Have direct involvement with day-to-day accounting functions including Accounts Payable/Receivable, purchasing, collections, journal entries, general ledgers, customer and vendor interactions etc.

    ·       Prepare and maintain various reports on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.

    ·       Assist with annual budget preparation. Assist in the preparation of financial presentations to the Company’s Senior Leadership Team.

    ·       Assist in the review and analyze actual departmental expenses in comparison to the Company’s budgets, and investigate significant variances.

    ·       Assist in the preparation of internal financial reports, including income statements and budget to actual analyses, as well as the preparation of various other financial analysis and key performance indicators.

    ·       Assist operations and other functions on special projects to analyze and reduce operating expenses, and other cost saving initiatives.

    ·       Work with external auditors during annual financial statement audits.

    ·       Assist in the administration of employee retirement savings plans (401k) and gain an understanding of the Company’s time and attendance/payroll processing system to act as a back-up.

    ·       Perform other duties as assigned and requested by management.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimum direction, and maintain a hands-on approach.
    • Flexibility to interact with all Company departments and to be comfortable in a small Accounting department.
    • Able to flex from detail (most activities) to summary level activities
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong external customer contact presence
    • Must possess critical thinking skills and be able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
    • Proven ability to deal with multiple tasks and parallel projects, deadlines, priority demands while paying close attention to detail.
    • Demonstrate good judgement and possess strong analytical, problem solving, and time management skills.
    • Demonstrate ability to learn new business software/computer skills, and is proficient in working with Microsoft Office Products (high proficiency with Excel).
    • Experience with Sage Enterprise Resource Planning & Intelligence software is a great plus.

    Education and Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
    • Minimum five (5) years of public and/or private accounting experience
    • Minimum, CPA test eligible. Current licensed CPA preferred.
    • Experience in a manufacturing/distribution environment preferred.
